“玉貴人”（遇貴人）是玉雕的傳統題材，出土及傳世者多有所見，皆為玉雕跪俑形式，最早出現于商代，諧音遇貴人，即人生順利，逢上司賞識，長輩朋友等幫助，遇到貴人之意。秦漢以前玉為王公貴族獨有，多為禮器，有通天之功，或為權勢、身份、地位的象征。
