玉貔貅是傳說(shuō)中的一種兇猛的瑞獸，來(lái)歷說(shuō)法不一。貔貅能吞萬(wàn)物而從不泄，故有納食四方之財(cái)?shù)脑⒁?。中?guó)傳統(tǒng)是有“貔貅”的習(xí)俗，和龍獅一樣，有將這地方的邪氣趕走、帶來(lái)歡樂(lè)及好運(yùn)的作用。
古書(shū)上說(shuō)的一種兇猛的瑞獸。貔貅是以財(cái)為食的，納食四方之財(cái)。

貔貅，又名天祿、辟邪、百解，共四個(gè)名字，是中國(guó)古代神話(huà)傳說(shuō)中的一種神獸，龍頭、馬身、麟腳，形似獅子，毛色灰白，會(huì)飛。貔貅兇猛威武，它在天上負(fù)責(zé)巡視工作，阻止妖魔鬼怪、瘟疫疾病擾亂天庭。
古時(shí)候人們也常用貔貅來(lái)作為軍隊(duì)的稱(chēng)呼。傳說(shuō)貔貅觸犯天條，玉皇大帝罰他只以四面八方之財(cái)為食，吞萬(wàn)物而不瀉，可招財(cái)聚寶，只進(jìn)不出，神通特異。這個(gè)典故傳開(kāi)來(lái)之后，貔貅就被視為招財(cái)進(jìn)寶的祥獸了。很多中國(guó)人佩戴貔貅的玉制品正因此典故。
