此器作侈口 ，淺弧形壁，淺圈足，器表彩繪兩組子母雞圖。圖中公雞、母雞率領小雞覓食于野地，母雞低頭欲啄蟲，小雞展翅雀躍，即使在細小如斯的畫面中，依然令人感受到溫馨可愛的情境。又，畫中的牡丹、蘭草與湖石恰如其分的隔開兩組圖案，杯內純白無紋飾，底以青花書“大明成化年制”六字楷款，款識之外并加畫雙方圈。此足以傳達 天倫 和樂的子母雞圖，或因帝王的喜愛而深受文人雅士的青睞，故至晚明無不以為“成窯雞缸杯，為 酒器 之最”。以及明神宗萬歷皇帝桌上之成化雞杯“值錢十萬”之說，遂不脛而走。
