從明代中期開始，東西方便開始在沿海地區進行貿易交流，外國銀元隨之流入中國。在清代初期，隨著東西方貿易發展逐漸步入正軌，外國銀元流入中國的數量相應增多，行用區域也不斷擴展。在外國銀元的影響下，我國東南沿海各省率先出現仿照外國銀元而鑄的銀幣。由于它們都是以人工土法打制而成的，形如餅狀，故被稱作“銀餅”。這種銀餅屬于銀幣的一種，存世稀少，是當前收藏家們求之不得的珍品，價值不菲!

此足紋銀餅直徑4.0cm、重26.4g，類屬臺灣銀幣，其形制規整，品相完美，包漿自然，頗具收藏價值。清道光十七年至十八年(1837~1838年)，張溫在臺灣州新黨郡慶白口舉行起義，臺灣地方政府為籌集軍餉而鑄行了這種銀幣，俗稱“臺灣老公銀”，具有早期打制幣的特點，亦有著濃郁的地方特色。錢幣正面中上部為壽星像，左右為“道光年造”，“足紋銀餅”的篆文，“餅”字下方刻有“卐”記，在壽星的胡須下方有紀值文字“庫平柒弍”;背面中央為一寶鼎圖案，四周環列滿文，另有十二圓圈和十六星點。這種以壽星作正面圖案的銀餅是各類銀餅中為時最早的，存世極少，價值不菲，非常值得藏家收藏。
