紫砂壺始于宋,興于明清,長久以來,紫砂壺在文人雅士的追捧把玩中,逐步形成“冶造型、文學(xué)、繪畫、書法、篆刻于一體”的金石文化藝術(shù)風(fēng)范。紫砂壺是反映時代風(fēng)尚的產(chǎn)物,某個時代的品味,規(guī)范了它的造型及紋飾。縱觀紫砂壺的歷史演變,一般都表現(xiàn)為由粗趨精、由大趨小、由簡趨繁,復(fù)又返璞歸真從簡行事,經(jīng)歷了古樸、華麗、淡雅的三個階段。對于現(xiàn)代收藏家來說,精品紫砂壺可謂是收藏界的頂梁柱之一。

時大彬的紫砂壺,一脫塵俗,樸雅堅致,風(fēng)格優(yōu)雅悅目,流暢靈活。“壺家妙手稱三大”之一的徐友泉晚年仍自嘆“吾之精,終不及時(指時大彬)之粗也”。時大彬是紫砂藝術(shù)的一代宗匠,生平活動期在明代萬歷朝至清代順治朝之間。他對紫砂陶的泥料配制、成型技法、造型設(shè)計與銘刻,都極有研究,確立了至今仍為紫砂業(yè)沿襲的用泥片和鑲接那種憑空成型的高難度技術(shù)體系。
