此枚伍百文銅幣是銅元史上最先鑄造的面值最大的銅幣，民國雙旗伍百文銅元為河南銅元局、后改為「河南機器制造局」于1933年制造的試鑄樣幣，未正式流通。正面中央鈴兩面交叉的民國國旗，外環珠圈，上緣“中華民國”，下緣紀值：阿拉伯數字“500”和英文“CASH”，左右各列一花枝和花瓣，左右花瓣隱含（河南）二字，外環齒邊和紋飾圖案。背面為面值“伍百文”，并配以稻穗組成的嘉禾圖，無紀局錢文。因面值過高，在流通中無法推行，旋鑄即停，當時只鑄造了12枚，當今存世極稀。

伍百文銅元是軍閥主政河南時的產品。當政時期有大量不同面值的銅元鑄造。根據此幣正面所鑄青天白日滿地紅的國旗圖案來看，此幣鑄造的時間應該為北伐戰爭時期勝利以后劉峙任河南省主席時所鑄。其主政初期，鑄有大量的銅元，且多為大面值的二百文銅元，據了解河南伍佰文銅元也是其主政出奇的作品，也許是因其面值過大而遭各界反對，此幣未批量鑄造，僅出少量樣幣。其極為罕見是肯定的，由于此幣享有中國銅元的盛名，更兼之以稀罕難覓，故歷來為中國銅元的大名譽珍品之一，此枚伍百文黃銅幣包漿自然，品相極優，周身布滿防偽暗記。
