試鑄幣就是沒有進入市場使用的。其實民國試鑄幣就是當時從國外買過來的機器，因為第一次鑄造，用銀改為銅，用銅水冷卻后機器鑄壓，試鑄幣是當時的完成品樣品。是后續鑄銀幣的對照品，整個國家這種版別才幾枚到十幾枚而以。機制幣的制作生產，從祖模設計、工具模翻制，從銅料熔煉，到壓軋銅板、制作銅餅、晃洗、退火、滾邊、印花等，前后涉及到的工藝流程有十幾個環節，需要不同技術工種緊密配合，可以說機制幣的生產過程，就是一件藝術品的繪制過程。

此枚為中華民國三年嘉禾壹圓銅幣，重量20g，直徑39mm，為民國時期中央造幣廠嘉禾圖樣品幣一枚，黃銅質，幣面清秀硬朗，銘文字體雕刻清晰，正面圖案是袁世凱的側面像，在頭像的上方是“中華民國三年”，背面的圖案是中間漢字“壹圓”周圍環嘉禾紋飾，錢幣銅質精良，形制規整，十分精致美觀，無明顯磨損,試鑄幣，無流通于市場使用，因為第一次鑄造，用銀改為銅，銅水冷卻后由機器鑄壓而成，所以試鑄幣是當世的完成樣品，是后續鑄銀幣的對照品，此幣色澤光鮮，品相優異，包漿自然，紋飾深淺適度，存世量極其稀少，具有極高的藝術鑒賞和收藏價值。
